First off, this is a gift for :iconkesame: of her character, Esk. I wanted to make her something beautiful and fun, yet with a somber mood to it at the same time. Hence this popped out. I hope you like it, Kesame!

Edit: I forgot to type the following, I was so excited with uploading.

Esk ( [link] ) is in typical night, yes, but I wanted to portray the ghost-creature with its own kind. Hence the odd, glowing koi, lunar moth, and chickadee in the picture. I tried my best to give it an ethereal, surreal feel, to portray that side of the world.

Kesame is an awesome artist, who inspires me to no end. I adore her artwork, she has an AMAZING style, and does anthros/ferals like no one I have ever seen before. Everything she draws seems to glow with magic, so please check out her gallery if you have a chance.

You've done a very good job in your portrayal of the different animals, and the sky and the trees. However, I'm unfamiliar with the subject and it is kind of confusing. I'm sure that wouldnt be a problem for other people, though. Otherwise, it has a strange feel to it because light is shining on the different objects from different angles. That helps to enforce the surreal, late-night feel of the painting, but it also makes the piece seem less realistic.

Ah... yes, I have a bit of a rough time with my light sources these days. I try to keep them coming strong from a major light source, and then add in a few weaker, less apparent sources of light, just to get a bit more of a fantasy-esque shimmer to the piece, especially if I am dealing with a spirit-realm. However, its a new technique for me, as well as backgrounds, so it can sometimes come out a bit erroneous.

where did this come from!!??! oh man what did i do to deserve this beauty, its spectacular. the fur is gorgeous and so tangible, and the whole mood and all... i kind of picture it as being in a spirit world with these little animal ghosts, and thats totally perfect for Esk.
